The team of experienced and proficient researchers headed by Dr. Nita Forouhi of the Institute of Metabolic Science in UK has finally brought about some good news for us all!

According to the research results, the total percentage of calories you receive from fat in comparison to protein or carbohydrates is just negligible in context of the weight a person is liable to gain in the coming years.

Out of the total calories a person consumes, the standard fat intake can possibly range from 31.5 % to 36.5 %. An average person with normal health and standard diet puts on a quarter of a pound annually.

However, the nutritionists and several health examinations have certified that there is basically no relationship between how much fat is consumed by the person and the extra weight that has been put on eventually.

As a matter of fact, the health experts recommend you to go for a 20% to 35% intake of “healthy” fats like those from vegetable oils, fish, and nuts.

For further details about this particular segment of study, visit http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE5BA3C920091211.

Some days you must be drinking multiple cups of coffee every day; a cup in the morning, 2 to 3 times at the office, sometimes a couple more at conferences or conventions and then maybe a cup for dessert after dinner.

But, did you ever stop and think how this caffeine consumption is helping you in terms of your health?

(Eat and be healthy San Francisco, visit LiteSF.com)

As recent studies and survey results have indicated; having a few extra cups of coffee each day can actually reduce the risk of advanced prostate cancers by almost 60%.

At a recent American Association of Cancer Research meeting in Houston, it was stated that although the case of high coffee intake and its activity on prostrate cancer are still yet to be proven.

Still, coffee seems to work well in reducing the risk of prostrate cancers.

Following a survey carried on for almost four years on over 50,000 men, it was concluded that men who have the highest intake of coffee shows significant lower risks of serious prostate cancer.

Caffeine beans are also known to reduce the risk of diabetes, and improve the liver health.

As per scientific explanations, coffee has positive impacts on insulin, glucose metabolism and also on sex hormone levels. All of them combine together to check the occurrence of prostate cancer.

These coffee research works were presented at the Cancer Prevention Research Conference.

Now that the benefits of caffeine consumption have been highlighted, if are thinking of increasing your coffee consumption, hold on!

Further studies and research results have also confirmed that excessive consumption can lead to various kinds of nervous and heart problems. So, ensure to drink coffee in moderation, and preferably after discussing it with a dietician.

You can surely check out the different merits and demerits of Coffee as discovered in the coffee-cancer study.

Now you can do both with Dr. Segal’s Cookie Diet, which provides you with 6 cookies a day along with one full meal, and you can lose 10 pounds a month.

The cookies are meant to be meal-substitutes and contain a blend of amino acids and food proteins.

There are critics of the cookie diets; complaining that the diet is not-lifelong, nor sustainable; that one cannot maintain such a diet and live a healthy lifestyle.

Weight-loss plans that center around a diet of below 1,000 calories do not, they say, lead to long-lasting weight loss and can result in potassium deficiency, gallstones, heart palpitations, weakened kidney function and dizziness.

Despite the criticism, the cookie diet is thriving with throes of new dieters trying it and sales going through the roof for a company like Smart for Life, who expects gross revenues of $82 million to $95 million this year.

Does the cookie diet work? Who knows, but even if you weren’t thinking of going on a diet, you might be convinced to do so now. Read the full article at the New York Times.

Have you ever been in the situation where you are on a diet and you get allexcited because you lost a few pounds quickly? You continue to lose weight, but then all of a sudden, you stop.

You can’t seem to get past that certain number; it has been 6 days of constant dieting and exercise , but you’re stuck.

Many people’s weight loss will hit a barrier as the body adopts to the new eating regimen.

If you want to continue losing weight, you must not supplement your efforts, one way of doing that is increasing your metabolism.

Did you know that your metabolism slows by 5 percent each decade? With age, muscle mass diminishes and with that, so does your metabolic rate. By increasing or maintaining your muscle mass, you can help to continue your weight loss.

Take this startling example from a recent article in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer:

The metabolic difference between a pound of muscle and a pound of fat is dramatic: Muscle burns at least three times more calories. “A woman who weighs 130 pounds and has a healthy 25 percent body fat will burn about 200 more calories per day than a 130-pound woman with about 40 percent body fat – a typical level for women at midlife,” says David C. Nieman, Dr.P.H., director of the Human Performance Laboratory at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.

So, if you are wondering why you aren’t losing weight as quickly or your diet has hit a rough spot, don’t underestimate the importance of a great metabolism.

Interested in how you can continue losing weight, stop in for a free weight loss consultation…
